Stephen M. Stern, B.S., MA.Ed., J.D, is an adjunct professor in Journalism and Accounting & Law Departments at California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo. Stephen has more than 20 years experience as a lawyer and business entrepreneur. He started teaching at Cal Poly in 2004 in the areas of Media Law, Business Law, Advanced Business Law, Government & Social Influences in Business, and Patents, Trademarks, Copyrights and Commercial Speech in Digital Media. 

Stephen’s law firm and legal experience, established in 1998, includes entertainment law, media law, copyrights, trademarks, business secrets, right to publicity, contracts and artist management. 

He also founded the Mobile Law Center, which provides legal outreach to unrepresented and underrepresented members of the Central Coast Community, including debt-related issues, bankruptcy and estate law. 

Stephen is also co-founder of Rockers Collective, a celebrity rock band comprised of world-class musicians from world famous bands that perform globally. 

Stephen regularly attends professional continuing education programs and conferences focusing on media law, privacy, First Amendment law and intellectual property. He is a member of the San Luis Obispo County Bar, California and Arizona State Bars, California’s Intellectual Property Organization, and several others. 

Stephen also services the community through free lectures to various non-profit groups and government organizations on the subject of business entity creation, trademarks, infringement and student loan debt.
