Mustang Media Group, the Journalism Department’s student-run news organization, received 22 awards — including nine first-place awards — from the Associated Collegiate Press (ACP) and the California College Media Association (CCMA) at the Midwinter National College Media Convention held March 2-5 in San Francisco.

Thanks to a $100,000 donation to the Journalism Department from Bill and Cheryl Swanson, the university’s student-run television studio will be outfitted with the latest cameras, switchers and other equipment, allowing students to broadcast in high definition.

SAN LUIS OBISPO – Cal Poly is celebrating the centennial anniversary of its student newspaper in an exhibit, “100 Years of Delivering the News,” at Kennedy Library Oct. 14 through Dec. 9. The public is invited to view the exhibit and come to the opening reception from 2 to 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, on the second floor of the Kennedy Library.

Cal Poly Journalism Department is extending a special invitation to join us at the Spotlight Gala from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at the Embassy Suites Ballroom here in San Luis Obispo.
This special dinner will close our “100 Years of Delivering the News,” a two-day celebration packed with exciting programs to mark the 100th anniversary of the student press at Cal Poly.

Jim Hayes Symposium
On Oct. 14 and 15, we will celebrate “100 Years of Delivering the News” -- a celebration of the 100th anniversary of Cal Poly's student press. The gala weekend will include a special Jim Hayes Symposium with four distinguished pioneers in journalism. They will discuss the challenges facing journalism and consider the question: "How do we prepare students for the next 100 years?"

100 YEARS OF DELIVERING THE NEWS
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The journalism department and Mustang News will mark the 100th anniversary of student media at Cal Poly with a yearlong celebration starting with a Reunion BBQ on O’Neill Green on the Cal Poly campus at 3:30 p.m., Nov. 7, 2015, and ending with a symposium and dinner gala in October 2016.
