Rebecca J. Alarcio Bio

Rebecca Alarcio completed a 30-year career at Allan Hancock College as its director of Public Affairs and Publications. As a senior member of the President’s Cabinet, she led all college communications inclusive of its public and media relations, marketing, print publications and online presence. This included supervising a Campus Graphics operation that produced more than 12 million print impressions annually. She also served as the college’s interim vice president, student affairs & college communications which included responsibility for the entire Student Services division. She was selected as the California Community College Public Relations Professional of the Year.

Following her tenure at Hancock, she directed the CoastHills Foundation, a 501(c)(3) operated with CoastHills Credit Union. It is one of the largest credit unions on the Central Coast spanning from Santa Cruz to Ventura counties. As the director, she developed and oversaw all aspects of the foundation and provided marketing and PR expertise.

Alarcio holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, and a master’s degree in organizational leadership from Chapman University.  She began her journalism career in news radio at KTMS in Santa Barbara and moved into television reporting and anchoring positions at the NBC and CBS affiliates in Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties. 

She currently serves as immediate past chair of the Marian Regional Medical Center Community Board and is a member of the CoastHills Foundation Board and the Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, Journalism Advisory Board
