Thomas Morales joined the Journalism Department in 2013 and serves as Broadcast Specialist and Engineer. He's charged with the maintenance and operation of Cal Poly's legendary non-commercial, educational radio station KCPR-FM, campus cable and San Luis Obispo County's cable TV station MNTV, as well as assisting and maintaining the department's various leading Mustang Media Group labs and media enterprises. Thomas came into the Journalism Department after spending more than 20 plus years in the broadcast television industry. 

A 1996 graduate of Northern Arizona University with a BS in Broadcast Communications, Thomas held several Videojournalist positions, including serving in the capacities of Chief Videojournalist, News Operations Manager and interim News Director at several CBS, Fox and NBC network affiliates in the Pacific Southwest. 

Earning multiple Associated Press “Mark Twain” awards, Southern California RTNA “Golden Mike” awards and involved with NATAS “Emmy” award winning stories, Thomas has always had an interest in not only in the craft, but in the technology which creates those stories. Maintaining his television production roots, Thomas remains active in producing, directing and production staff for live broadcast productions for both Cal Poly, as well as local and regional network television affiliates.
